Messing Around

I find Sunday’s are a hard day.  Because we have church right in the middle of the day, the mornings feel like we’re just waiting around for church to start.  The days that I have meetings to attend get a little crazy, but most of the time it’s a lot of wasted time.

Then, we get through the gong show at church where the kids are hungry because church is 11:30 to 2:30.  Even with a late breakfast and snacks, it can get interesting!  Then, when we get home (without Lennard – as he is the financial clerk), the kids decide they don’t want to eat, they want to play!  Usually, I just let them.  I figure when they’re hungry they’ll let me know!  By the time Lennard gets home, he’s starving and the rest of us are, once again, just messing around… playing, reading, etc.  He grabs something to eat, and then within the hour, the kids are hungry!  It’s such an ‘off’ day!

Sometimes we’ll watch a movie together or go for a drive, but today we just ‘messed around’.  I pulled out my camera with the tripod and set up the remote so that we could play.  The kids thought it was hilarious!  We even managed to get Lennard in on the ‘fun’!  These are the moments that we’ll remember (not the lazy, do nothing all day moments!).

Easter Egg Hunt

Lennard went off with the guys to go gopher shooting today, so I decided to take the kids down to the Remington Carriage Center for their annual Easter egg hunt.  We got there minutes before they opened the gates.  Technically, we should have waited for the next group of kids since the first group was 0-4 years old, but I figured 50% of my kids fit the category so it was good enough.  I just made sure Emma stayed by me and didn’t grab too many eggs.  They were both extremely well behaved, even when I told them they couldn’t pick up any more eggs.  They had a lot of fun.  After we got out of the ‘hunt’, there was a Strawberry Shortcake movie being shown at the small theatre there, so we went in and watched it for a while.  It was almost lunch time when we got home, so it worked out nicely.

Had to include this last photo.  I had been getting a picture of Ben with all the chocolate eggs that he’d eaten and Emma decided she needed to be in the picture.  It makes me laugh so hard.  Very typical of their personalities!

All Taped Up

For days Ben has been asking me to tape him to the floor.  Why?  I have NO idea!  I have put him off and put him off, but today he was not being put off any longer!  About 11:45 I finally capitulated and taped him to the floor.  Ha! Ha!  It was actually quite hilarious!  As soon as he got taped down, he said his nose was itchy so I had to scratch it for him!

Of course, as soon as Ben got taped down, Emma wanted in on the action.  She lasted about 5 minutes before she was wiggling and finally sitting up.  It just about kills her to just sit/lay quietly!  lol.  Ben ended up laying there until Lennard got home at noon and then he didn’t want to get up for lunch unless I promised to tape him back down afterwards!  What a funny kid!

Stay and Play

IMG_3787

Today at Stay and Play, Tashina helped the kids make granola balls for snack time.  Most of the other kids just played, but Emma and Ben were right in there measuring and mixing everything.  It was fun to watch them.  It’s such a nice break going to Stay and Play… especially when there aren’t tons of kids there!  The mess stays there!

Soccer

Lennard is so busy with rugby that Ben is constantly asking when he can go ‘coach’ with him.  Well, yesterday, when I was in Lethbridge, I happened upon a display of soccer cleats.  Since we’ve signed the kids up for soccer this year for the first time, I decided to buy them some cleats. (Not that they needed them…) To say that they were excited is an understatement.  They each got their own bags for their own cleats at the checkout and held them all the way home.  As soon as we got in the house, they had them on and didn’t want to take them off!

When Lennard got home, they were bouncing off the walls with excitement to show him what they’d got.  They wanted to go to the soccer park right then, but Lennard had to go coach rugby.  He promised them that he would take them the next day when he got home from work, so guess what I heard all day long?!

The second he walked in the door they accosted him and followed him around until he had changed and got ready to take them to the soccer park.

The field was still quite wet, but they had a blast kicking the ball around.  Of course, we had only been there for about 5-10 minutes when they both figured they had played enough soccer and just wanted to play on the playground!  (Soccer might get interesting if that is their attention span!)

At least we got a few minutes of fun family time in.  They were pretty cute running around in their new cleats!

Ben had to take a break to ‘coach’ and blow the whistle!  Lennard yelled ‘score’!  Ben yelled ‘strike’!  Guess we’re going to have to work on terminology for each sport!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

IMG_3728IMG_3730

We went to the library reading program this morning and the kids had fun making ‘rainbow’ and shamrock necklaces.  Ben ate most of his fruit loops before they made it to the necklace and Emma wanted all of hers strung… but she didn’t want to eat any of them.

Then, after lunch, we headed over to the house of one of Emma’s little friends from preschool for a St. Patrick’s Day party.  Jet was able to pick three friends for a party and he picked Emma, Coby and Joshua.  It just so happened that each of them had one younger sibling, so they all got invited too!  Ben had a blast with all the boys and Emma didn’t even clue in that she was the only girl (besides Jet’s little sister, Carly).  They had a lot of fun jumping in an inflatable bouncy house, playing with toys, having treats and finishing off with a treasure hunt!  They each got a goody bag full of stuff to bring home too.  It was such a cute idea.  I had fun visiting with Meagan too.  We attempted to get a picture of all the kids in their green shirts, but Jet and Coby didn’t want anything to do with a picture!  I snuck on of him, but that’s as close as I got the entire time we were there!

Last Gymnastics Class

Today was Emma and Ben’s last gymnastics class.  They were so sad that is was going to be over, but extremely excited when they discovered that daddy and Grandma & Grandpa had come to watch them!  They were both hilarious trying to run and wave to everyone at the same time.  Coach Cody has been so great with them and they have such a cute little class.  Monday afternoons just won’t be the same!

Getting all warmed up… playing the piano with their toes, stretching, push ups, sit ups, etc.

They were each recognized and given a medal for completing their gymnastics class.  They were so proud of themselves.

The cutest little class ever!  Coach Cody (McAllister), Emma, Allie Atwood, Briley Smith, Anika Thiessen, Avery Butler, Andie Easthope and Ben.

They were excited to pose for more pictures when we got home too!  So proud of these two!

Roof!

IMG_3712

Progress is slowly being made on the hangar.  Lennard got all the wiring done, we got the vapor barrier up and now we’re trying to get the OSB up on the ceiling.  The building isn’t exactly square, so we’ve had a bit of fun getting the boards to fit properly, but it’s going okay.  It’s so nice to see it getting closer to being done.  I wish we could be painting right now before we put anything back up, but it’s just not going to happen.  Oh well… another project for another day.

Home and Garden Show

We went in to the Home and Garden show tonight with my parents.  They had planned on going in anyways and so had we, so we just ended up going together!  The kids loved exploring all the booths.  The best ones for them were the ones with playhouses, slides, or movies on!  It was busy, but not anywhere what it would have been if we’d waited until the weekend!  I ended up buying a new mop, while Lennard drooled over hot tubs, flooring for the hangar, etc.  (hahaha)
